Our Mission

We aspire to be captains of lives of female ex-substance abusers and ex-offenders committed to our residential programme. We will use our resources to steer them towards becoming responsible citizens with the help of their families and the community.

Type of Admission to the Home

Assistance and support are given to two groups of ladies as follows:

1)         Those serving their sentence in Changi Women's Prison/Drug Rehabilitation Centre and placed on a mandatory residential stay of 6-12 months under the Community-Based Rehabilitation Scheme, which will be phased out in September 2011, and the Hlafway House Service Model (HSM) programme.

2)         Direct entry cases(walk-in) who are required to stay on a 6-month residential programme upon admission. The direct entry cases are usually referred by their family members and/or professionals. They will usually need a period of hospital detoxification before admission to our programme.

Admission Criteria

Potential clients must be motivated to change and make the effort to work on their own recovery during their stay in the Home. No smoking or consumption/ possession of any form of drugs including alcohol is allowed.

She would be assessed to determine her readiness and suitability for the residential programme. An interview will be arranged outside the Home to see the client first.

The potential client will be given a chance to undergo and complete the programme, failing which she will not be admitted a second time so easily. This is to ensure that the walk-in clients are serious about and ready to work on their own recovery.

Admission Requirements

As this is a residential programme, 24-hour supervision is provided and staff are rostered for night duties daily.  The residents are not allowed to leave the halfway house on their own during the programme. When the need arises, the residents will be escorted by a staff when they step out of The Turning Point premises, for e.g. for hospital appointment.
