A Charity reaching out to women seeking recovery from drug addiction and recidivism...

The Turning Point is the 4th attempt by the Christian Community since 1970 to set up a refuge of recovery for women who are seeking for recovery from drug addiction in Singapore. Besides reaching out to mandated clients, The Turning Point continue its practice of taking in women addicts from the streets. In recent years, with increase recidivism in other behavioral addiction such as alcoholism, problem gambling and domestic violence. The Turning Point is also reaching out to younger clients who fall into the trap of vices and crime.

Since 1996, The Turning Point has been running a baking therapy for the residents. This therapy was started by volunteers. Residents learn the skills of baking and craft work. Craft therapy stimulates their creativity in a structured and routine program. Imparting spiritual values and coping with skills to residents has always been an emphasis in the recovery program since addiction is often a lifestyle that is bred from a dysfunctional family upbringing.

'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty. - Zechariah 4:6

Since August 2007, The Turning Point has opened our doors to another category of clients and these are prisoners under rehabilitation for criminal activity. Today, the work presses on but the profile of abusers coming into the halfway house is changing with the menace of SDA drugs and Subutex in our backyard. The staff and volunteers of The Turning Point look forward to evolving a recovery program in our beloved nation that will cater to the changing profile of women who are looking for a way out of substance abuse and recidivism
